What is functional medicine?

“Functional Medicine is a model of care that addresses the underlying causes of disease and engages both patient and practitioner in a therapeutic partnership. It represents an evolution in the practice of medicine and effectively addresses the healthcare needs of the 21st century. By shifting the traditional disease-centered focus of medical practice to a more patient-centered approach, Functional Medicine considers the whole person, not just an isolated set of symptoms.

With the explosion of chronic disease across the world, more and more healthcare professionals are learning how to address the underlying causes of disease, rather than focusing on simply relieving symptoms. FM Health Coaches help individuals meet their health goals and play a key role in guiding them towards preventing or reversing the chronic conditions that are so pervasive in our modern environment.”


What is functional medicine coaching?

Functional Medicine Coaching encompasses support for anyone with a health plan they wish to implement, whether it's from a functional medicine doctor or other practitioner. Sometimes, lifestyle changes lifestyle changes can be daunting. I provide guidance for making these changes, and I bring expertise in the crucial mindfulness and movement aspects of this work, in addition to nutrition based treatment. It’s my philosophy that mindfulness practices are as important as nutritional shifts for sustainable healing.

As a Functional Medicine certified health coach it is my goal to educate, support and empower you in creating positive lifestyle and behavioral changes to reach your health goals. Health Coaching is a client centered, collaborative relationship in which we co-create your personal health and wellness plan. The Coach’s role is to provide information and inspiration, but your results will depend on the work that YOU do to implement these plans. 

Topics of discussion may include: food and nutrition, self-care, sleep, stress management, exercise, values, spiritual needs, relationships, time management, character strengths, and the specific heath challenges and other lifestyle issues that impact your wellbeing.
